CHALLENGE
The motorway runs through hilly and challenging terrain which includes many tunnels, some are over 3 km in length. JP Autoceste FBIH are building a motorway on three different areas, and they required a really powerful radio communications network. Such network allows staff based at dispatch center, toll booths or working along the road, to communicate clearly across the same private network. As motorway runs through hilly terrain, patrol services on certain sections of the motorway do not have cell phone coverage. JP Autoceste FBIH wanted to achieve two objectives: a reliable network that would function on every part of the road and rugged hardware that could withstand emergency situations.
SOLUTION
MOTOTRBO™ digital radio system consist of more than half – dozen DR3000 / SLR5500 repeaters, DM and DP 4000 series with a Neocom TRBOnet dispatch center application in TMCC Drivuša. Using MOTOTRBO™ IP Site Connect system feature, Mibo Komunikacije Ltd Sarajevo have successfully linked seven single-site repeaters along the motorway via customer wired IP network and IP wireless links. The automatic site-roaming feature eliminates the need for users to physically change channels as they move along the motorway. This ensures seamless communications as the patrol service / regular and winter maintenance staff travels along the motorway. TRBOnet Enterprise enables dispatch center personnel to monitor voice communication, data and the location through GPS while providing record management and the ability to review events that have taken place.
BENEFITS
The robust IP Site Connect radio network has reduced JP Autoceste FBIH dependency on GSM communications and provided consistent voice and GPS communications to enhance the operations and ensure traffic participants & staff safety. IP Site Connect ensures reliable, seamless voice communications along the motorway, including coverage in the tunnels and toll booths. Patrol service no longer need to remember to physically change channels as they travel from one end of the motorway to the other. Being able to track the exact location of patrol service / maintenance staff along 116 km of road has greatly improved dispatch efficiency and enabled a quicker response to break downs and emergencies. Safety along the tunnels is ensured with the Fire Department being able to have their own private channel and communicateclearly with its operations centers at all points along the motorway, in case of any emergency. Moving from a commercial cell phone network to MOTOTRBO™ has resulted in saving call charges and the cost of frequently replacing damaged and broken devices.
